Why some groups show nothing
The five-person minimum, and the rule that stops a small group being worked out by subtraction.
How it works
nørma only shows results for a group that meets your organisation’s minimum, which is at least five people. Below that, the group shows just “Too few to show.” and no numbers. Your organisation can raise this minimum, but nobody can set it below five.
The five counts everyone in the group, the leader included, rather than how many people answered. A group that’s big enough but where nobody has checked in yet simply waits for check-ins. A group can also be hidden when showing it would let a smaller group’s result be worked out by subtracting one figure from another, for example a department minus all but one of its teams.
Step by step
- nørma counts the people in each group.
- If the count is under the minimum, the group’s results are held back on nørma’s servers before anything reaches the dashboard.
- If showing a group would let a smaller group be worked out by subtraction, that group is held back too.
- Everything else shows as group averages. Organisation Admins can raise the minimum under “Privacy & Safety”.
Good to know
An honest limit: a group of five shows results from its first check-in, so a figure, theme or alert can rest on one answer, yours included. Comparing figures over time can narrow down who might have changed. That’s why we ask everyone never to try to work out who said what.
If a group you need shows nothing, combine it with a neighbouring group in Structure, or read the level above it.
“Privacy & Safety” explains a new minimum; check group sizes in Structure.
Group figures only, never a person’s answers. Groups below your organisation’s minimum never show, and in a small group a figure can rest on one answer.
